Q&A

  • Do you have any online operating manuals? On the remote end of the tester the numbers are flashing out of sequence, would be nice to know what that means

Thanks for contacting us to let us know your situation. Please check a detailded tutorial blog here: https://www.vcelink.com/products/rj45-tester.

If the lights flashing out of sequence, it would be a crossover .

  • Why does G not light up?

Hello, thanks for your feedback! If the G light doesn't light up, please check whether you are using the shielded cable. And please confirm whether the drain wire of the shielded Ethernet cable are properly wrapped around the cable to provide grounding.

  • I have one of these and it works great. I have measured rj45 cable lengths up to 400 feet. I now have a 520 foot cable to test and am not getting any of the test lights, any suggestions to test at this length, thanks

Hi, thanks for your message! Our RJ45 tester supports a maxmum leng-th of 600 meters. If you use this cable tester to test your wthernet cable. Please make sure the RJ45 connectors at the both ends are well terminated. For more detailed tutorial  information, please check our blog here: https://www.vcelink.com/blogs/focus/using-network-tester

  • Is it by design necessary to have both units visible at the same time to witness the led sequences during testing by one person eg. each cable to be tested is already installed with the ends in different rooms.

Thanks for your message! Please note that it is not necessary to have both units visible at the same time. Please check more detailed information and tutorial for this RJ45 cable tester here. https://www.vcelink.com/blogs/focus/using-network-tester

Now the reason I bought this was to test the many Ethernet cables I have and use. Not to say they are bad but I did have a bad cable and I don’t know what I did with it. So I tested every one I have and I might of thrown away the bad one before I bought this. Well so far it works good and is easy to use. I will keep you all updated.

I paid an electrician for a full rewire including phone lines and network. Nothing special or complicated, just wanted to hardwire 2 tvs and an Xbox in 3 separate rooms. Openreach had to come out and fix the phone line and he checked the ADSL sockets for me, said it wasn’t going to work and that it wasn’t on his job sheet to fix. I bought some kit to refit the plugs and checked the sockets and it all looked ok to me. I saw DIY Guy on YouTube who detailed wiring in your own net at home and realised it was probably a problem I could fix myself so I bought this whizzy little gadget, checked the line to one of the tv screens and it showed two wires not working. On closer inspection with my phone on 3x zoom I could see why. Without this bit of kit we would still have needed to use WiFi and keep having to reset the tv. It’s all up and running now and I’m very pleased with this purchase. I feel confident enough to help my kids in their homes if they need. Useful as they’re both tech heads :)

I used one like this for many years. Simple and reliable. Will tell you that your crimps have been successful.
Check for broken cables and crossed pairs.

CCTV at home stopped working suddenly, wasn’t sure if camera was faulty or the Ethernet cable was a fault. Camera location and wiring was to difficult to access and would have took many hours to diagnose so decided to purchase this for assistance.

Arrived quickly and tested straight away with known working cable to check what results I should get.

Tested suspected faulty cable and showed no2 as a faulty wire which ment the camera was on and the cable was the issue, investigated outside cable and found one of the RJ45 connector pin had shorted out the wire, replaced connector and worked perfectly.

Saved me time excellent product!
