With the given thread lengths, the panel thickness is constrained by leaving enough thread for the locknut while still compressing the sealing ring.
1/4" (thread length 9.0 mm): recommended max panel thickness โ 6โ7 mm
3/8" (thread length 10.0 mm): recommended max panel thickness โ 7โ8 mm
This keeps a few threads available for secure locknut engagement and allows the sealing ring to compress properly for reliable sealing.
